This is the most important step IMHO. What disturbs me even more is that most people you talk to will always say that the media is full of shit 99% of the time, but when they hear about not being able to get a loan/oil/etc, CNN, MSNBC, ABC, etc. are considered the trusted advisor.

I would really like to think the American public is not that dumb, but it's not looking good right now.
Does anyone listen to NPR? There is a show "On Point with Tom Ashbrook" on in the evening. (I do like this show BTW) They had a guest on there last night that was talking about the financial crisis. This guy could not have been more wrong. It's like they had Corky from 'Life Goes On' commenting on the entire financial system. Who was he? He was a journalist/film maker that decided to write a book (uh hello!?! trying to pawn his book on national radio - he referenced that he wrote a book about 20 times during the hour of the show).
The other guest, an economist, actually knew what the hell he was talking about (I know, go figure). Of course, the economist was "completely wrong" according to the
journalist and had no idea what he was talking about. Really? People buy this bullshit? (BTW he had very good/educated comments on the subject).
Here is the link if you want the podcast:

Rant over.
